Welcome to My Imagination

I have always been influenced by art and engaged in art. I remember even as a kid, always having a camera with me when I went on hikes or trips. I always had a sense of exhilaration as I waited for my film to be developed. (Yes, back when we still used film in photography.) Now I use my trusty digital camera. And although I can see a preview of the photo, I still get excited to see what I captured once I've loaded images to my computer.

As a kid, my grandmother would take me to live theater. Back then, it was more of a chore than a joy. Little did I know that theater would play a tremendous role in my artistic and personal development. During my teen years I became involved in high school theater productions, starting with small bit roles, which left me with time on my hands. Being intellectually curious, I used that time to learn about set and lighting design. In college, I studied theater as a minor with an emphasis on scenic design. I now have five professional scenic design credits. There's something magical about scenic design. Not only do I get to see my artistic vision come to fruition, but I'm creating the world in which the actors' characters live. The greatest complements I've received for my designs are actors who say, "I love the world you created for me."

The final genre of interest in my artistic journey is jewelry design. I began dabbling 5 years ago, making jewelry gifts for friends and family. I've had an Etsy shop for a while, but admittedly slow on managing it at the moment. My jewelry found a consignment home for a year in a local theater gift shop. My consignment ended and a previous patron was looking for my work. It was quite flattering to hear that someone was seeking out my wares.
